ABOUT ME

I have always been fascinated by the miracle of pregnancy and birth.  It wasn't until I met the midwives who attended the birth of my first child that I began to understand the importance of care, support, encouragement and education for the mother-to-be during her pregnancy, labour and the birth of her baby.

After the birth of my second child, I began to read anything to do with pregnancy and birth and to investigate ways that I could work with women throughout their childbearing year. When I read about doulas, it was one of those "light bulb moments"! Right there was a definition of what or who I wanted to be and do. An answer to prayer! I had found something that was both a passion and a career!

Shortly after beginning my journey to become a doula, I discovered that I was expecting my third child - this not only added a few challenges physically supporting clients as my girth expanded but also reminded me how powerful a birthing woman is and the verse "I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14. I can remember thinking "WOW! I did that!" and then half a beat later, "I have to do that again!"  With each of my births (both as a professional and as a mother), I have learnt so much about the birthing process and about myself. I believe that our bodies are designed perfectly to carry, deliver and nourish our babies.

I am a DONA trained and certified labour doula and have experience supporting women through a variety of different types of birth. As your doula I will provide physical, emotional and educational support throughout your pregnancy and at the birth of your everyday miracle (click here to find out more about my Birth Doula Services).

I am a CAPPA trained Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula currently working towards certification.

I am available to support and encourage you during the first few weeks postpartum

I believe that every woman deserves access to the resources and information that will assist her to make informed decisions about her care during her pregnancy, for her birth and after the birth of her baby.

Pregnancy can be an overwhelming time with many decisions to be made and a lot of information to be sifted through. Most women have not witnessed other women in their family or community throughout the childbearing years so do not grow up with any inherent knowledge about pregnancy, birth and the many changes that occur at the instant when their baby transforms them into a mother and a couple into a family.

I moved to Canada from Australia 9 years ago so I understand the heightened emotions that may surface when loved ones are so far away at such an important moment in your life.
